And that’s just for one A Whole Lotta Food Each weekday morning, a van full of groceries arrives at EECM’s Hunger Programs. There are bags of loaf bread,muffins and bagels, boxes of vegetables and fruit, and cases of canned goods and non- perishables. The origin of the van is Whole Foods Market. Since their arrival in the neighborhood in 2002, Whole Foods has been one of EECM’s most loyal supporters, providing hundreds of pounds of food to our programs every week. As you can imagine,we rely heavily on donations of food from the community to keep our Food Pantry stocked and our Soup Kitchen and Meals on Wheels programs running. Fortunately, the food we get from Whole Foods is good food. Interesting food. Organic food. Healthy food. We can offer our clients organic bananas and whole-grain bread. We distribute fresh fruits and vegetables to supplement the canned goods we receive or buy from other sources. Community citizenship is one of the core values of Whole Foods Market – the company strives to be an active partner in the local community and donates at least 5% of their profits each year to a wide variety of organizations. EECM was recently the beneficiary of one of Whole Foods’ 5% Days. Our Hunger Programs received 5% of one day’s sales at our local Whole Foods store – an impressive $5,344. A Whole Lotaa Food
Each weekday morning, a van full of groceries arrives at EECM’s Hunger Programs. There are bags of loaf bread, muffins and bagels, boxes of vegetables and fruit, and cases of canned goods and nonperishables.
The origin of the van is Whole Foods Market.
